In my last post, I mentioned cheap vacations and couch surfing… In this case, it’s air mattress surfing but who cares- we were just so happy to be there it’s almost unreal. NYC day two begins like any other day, meaning I get up super early, regardless of whether or not I have to be at work, and the second day of the trip was no exception even though we must have walked 50 miles the night before. On our way to my brother’s apartment, we saw the cutest little coffee shop and wanted to make sure we had breakfast there at least once. It’s ADORABLE, right down to the name: The Chipped Cup (coffee and victuals) and we couldn’t wait to get down those stairs. They have all the pastries delivered fresh- daily!!- from Ceci-Cela. Ceci-Cela has the best croissants in New York, according to seriouseats.com and I have to agree. I had one. There’s not a matching plate to be had in the place, which just added to the charm. We ate out back in the garden and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I’ll be back, no doubt about it. The Chai Latte the barista made for me was perfectly authentic. Smelling the cinnamon and cloves brought me to a happy place and I stayed there (mentally) all day. Highly recommend!
